I’ve been sitting here staring at the clock on the wall
And I’ve been laying here praying, praying she won’t call

I’ve never given this any thought before but every time when he said he wanted to see that girl soon, makes my heart shatter into pieces. I’ve been watching him since they day I saw him on a bench sitting peacefully. I watched him go through those challenges in this life. I watched him rise to fame. I’ve been there for him, when he was down, when he was hurt from all the words he hears. “I need you.” Ethan said. I held his hand, “Ethan, I’m still here for you.” I answered him.

It’s just another call from home
And you’ll get it and be gone
And I’ll be crying

But you never notice this girl beside you. “Ethan, what can you say about your co-star, Avery Scott?” Someone asked him one day, he looked at me with eyes of glee. He answer them enthusiastically. While I watch him from the back. “Hey! I think she’s the one.”, he said, hugging me tight. I pushed him off, playfully not letting my true feelings show, “Really? Wow! Congratulations!” I told him. “You’re not mad aren’t you?” he asked out of nowhere. Of course I am! I wanted to say that, “What? Heck no!” I played around, “You must be so happy right now.” I smiled at him, now fighting the tears to fall. “I am happy.”said Ethan, “Are you happy?” I silently nodded at his question not looking back at him. “She’s waiting for me. I’ll see you later, ok?”, he said while turning his back on me.

I never knew how it would hurt me. I cried that night, till I didn’t notice I fell asleep.

And I’ll be begging you, baby
Beg you not to leave
But I’ll be left here waiting
With my Heart on my sleeve

After his show he picked up his phone, I hugged him, “Congratulations.” I said. He smiled, “Tha—” But his words were cut off, “Hey baby.” I hated that. “No it’s ok, if you weren’t here.” Really? You should’ve heard yourself whine a while ago Ethan Price. I laughed silently. “Ok, I will be there.” Please, don’t go to her. I wanted to beg. “See you later, I love you too.” I shrugged at what you said.

Oh, for the next time we’ll be here
Seems like a million years
And I think I’m dying

“Thanks for supporting me.” I just smiled at what he said. “Whenever you want me.” I told him, “I’ll be there.” he loves messing my hair, “I promise you dinner.” Ethan said while putting on his black leather jacket, “I promise. I missed the way we talk, like before.” Me too, I whispered to myself. When he turned his back to me I was screaming in the inside, I’m dying. Please, stay. I am here.

What do I have to do to make you see
She can’t love you like me?

“Hey…” His voice was never this low and sad before. What did she did to you now? “Hi. What’s up?” I said, not giving a worried hint with my voice. He look so down, I wanted to kiss his lips. “She said I’m so predictable.” he slumped his back, “She said she hates predictable people.” She’s so wrong. You are not predictable. “What are your plans now?” I asked him. He just looked at me with teary eyes. “I thought you were strong?” I told him. “I thought so too.” he cried. He leaned his head on to my shoulder, he sobbed like he never did.

Why don’t you stay
I’m down on my knees
I’m so tired of being lonely
Don’t I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay

I looked at him sleeping like a baby. I touched his forehead, his cheeks, his eyes, his nose, his chin and his lips slowly. I stared at him for a while. His cellphone went off. He immediately opened his eyes and I immediately put a distance between us. His eyes were so puffy, I wanted to cry. “Hello?” Ethan answered. Now she calls you, “No, don’t be sorry.” I wanted to hit him but I can’t. She calls you and asks you come to her, “Ok, babe. I’m coming.” and you obliged. I played with my hands, Ethan stood up. He cupped my face, and stared at my eyes. He gave me a kiss on the forehead, “Thank you for always being there.”

He walked out slowly, I caught up to him, hugged him tight from the back. “Why don’t you stay?” I felt him smile, he slowly removed my arms around him. “I would love too.” He told me. “Then stay…” bu he hurriedly went out.

You keep telling me, baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine
But I don’t think that’s the truth
And I don’t like being used and I’m tired of waiting
It’s too much pain to have to bear
To love a man you have to share

I know him and her are gonna be forever. “I wanna marry someday.” Ethan mentioned casually. That made my heart sink in the deepest part of the ocean. “But I think she’s not the marrying type.” I looked at him with a puzzled look. He smiled, “You are more like a marrying type.” He smiled. Do you really mean that? “Stop it.” I told him, “But whatever you do, I will be there.” He took my right hand, “My point.” My eyes widened, “You were and still is there for me. No matter what.” He sighed. I squeezed his hand, “Wish it was you.” he sighed.

I went close to him kissed him on the cheeks, “Then be with me.” I whispered to him. His head shoot up. “But, you can’t.” I let go of his hand. “Go quick.” I told him, pushing him to the door, “Go to her!” I got to my knees and cried my lungs out.

Why don’t you stay
I’m up off my knees
I’m so tired of being lonely
You can’t give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay, yeah

I tried to be strong. I tried to stand back up again. I’m trying to be happy for you. I’m looking at our picture together, “How I wish I never had this feeling, and never had to share you.” I sighed to myself. There came knocking on my door. “Who is it!?” I answered, no hint of sadness. I think. Then the knocking went louder. I opened my door. My eyes grew wide. What have she done to you now? You never looked so tired and beaten up. “Wh-what are you doing here?” I asked him, “Wh-why are you here?” He faced me, tears streaming down his face. I wiped it away, Ethan kissed my hands, “I’m here for you.” He whispered, “I’m here to stay.”
